Spin focuses on works from the QUT Art Collection that actively engage with visual perception and optical effects.

Artists have always taken the peculiarities of the human eye into account and many artists have made considerable use of optical devices. Dynamic movement, wacky visual associations, illusions of swelling and warpage and zingy colours induce head spins for the viewer.

The silkscreen prints of Victor Vasarely, one of the chief pioneers of Op Art, and works that explore colour, linear pattern and optical illusions are featured. Entertaining and witty, the exhibition abounds with delight and energy.

The exhibition features works by Alun Leach-Jones, Colin Lanceley, David Rose, David Ryan, David Turner, Eduardo Paolozzi, Gloria Petyarre, Jimmy Pike, Joe Felber, Joe Tilson, Larry Rivers, Leslie Dumbrell, Liz Edwards, Marc Pascal, Robert Morris, Sol LeWitt, Victor Vasarely, Lincoln Austin and Leonard Brown.
