Beyond the Edge of Town explores artists' responses to the beauty, isolation and spiritual importance of the countryside.
For urban-dwelling Australians the outback maintains an air of the exotic, the unfamiliar, maybe even danger. Out of the city, past small townships, after the back paddock lies the vast Australian landscape. Beyond the Edge of Town draws together a body of artworks devoid of people. The exhibition features works by 33 artists including Paddy Carlton, John Coburn, Rosalie Gascoigne, Philip Hunter, Rosella Namok, John Olsen, Graeme Peebles, William Robinson, Judy Watson and Fred Williams.
