The Night of the Hunter:
Audio described film screening

Join us for an audio described screening of classic American thriller The Night of the Hunter. Directed by Charles Laughton in 1955 and starring Robert Mitchum, Shelley Winters and Lillian Gish, the story follows a corrupt religious fanatic turned serial killer who seduces an unsuspecting widow whilst in pursuit of $10,000 hidden by her executed husband. Based on the 1953 novel of the same title by Davis Grubb and drawing on a true story, this chilling movie is known for its lyrical and expressionistic style. This film does not have a content rating.

Audio description (AD) is the description of visual information, narrated between gaps in the dialogue and accessible to people who are blind or have low vision. For this film screening, the live audio description is provided by Vivienne Abitia, an experienced actor and voice work artist who delivers live audio description for the Queensland Performing Arts Centre through Vision Australia, as well as other organisations and events.
