William Robinson: A new perspective - Nick Earls

Past texta book club

Texta is no ordinary book club; it's for people who love art. We use fiction (mostly) to unpack the subjects, themes and emotions of art. Conversation is never colourless, and is facilitated by our brains trust from QUT Creative Industries Faculty.

To coincide with the exhibition Nature imagined, our first book for the year is William Robinson: A new perspective by Nick Earls.

This unique non-fiction novella provides a new perspective on both author Nick Earls and renowned artist William Robinson. From cringing over his first solo exhibition in the 1960s, to juggling family life, teaching and goat farming alongside his art practice, Robinson's life and career trajectory delightfully unfold through Earl's relatable humour and uncanny observation.

The evening commences with a brief tour of the current exhibition, followed by a glass of wine and generous amounts of conversation about the title of choice.

Texta is held through the year on Tuesday evenings from 6:15pm. Purchase this title from the QUT Bookshop or buy an author-and-artist-signed copy at Old Government House.
