'Current: Gail Mabo, Lisa Waup, Dominic White' and 'Decades: 80 Years of Collecting' Exhibition Tour

Past event

Join QUT Galleries and Museums Engagement Coordinator, Renae Belton on a tour of Current: Gail Mabo, Lisa Waup, Dominic White and Decades: 80 Years of Collecting at QUT Art Museum.

Current features newly commissioned and recent work by three First Nations artists, Gail Mabo (Meriam), Lisa Waup (Gunditjmara/Torres Strait Islands), and Dominic White (Palawa/Trawlwoolway). Their work affirms their powerful connection to their lands, waters and ancestors. The exhibition highlights the three vital and contemporary multidisciplinary practices and references the movement in the passages of water along the eastern coast of Australia connecting land and people of the Torres Strait in the far north to Tasmania in the south.

Decades: 80 Years of Collecting is a compilation of well-known and rarely seen works by significant Australian and international artists, including paintings, sculpture, ceramics and works on paper. A small sample of more than 3000 art objects acquired by QUT over nine decades, the exhibition reveals hidden patterns and unexpected connections.
