'Helen Fuller: Bowerbird' and 'Pat Hoffie: This Mess We're In' Auslan Interpreted Tour

Past event

Join QUT Galleries and Museums Engagement Coordinator, Renae Belton on a tour of Pat Hoffie: This Mess We're In and Helen Fuller: Bowerbird at QUT Art Museum.

Accredited Auslan interpreter Kelly Cooper will accompany this tour for our Deaf community.

This Mess We’re In explores the chaos and catastrophes that have become white noise in our everyday lives. Through a visual anthology of failures, propositions and imagined futures, Brisbane-based artist Pat Hoffie presents us with a series of mise en scènes where the borderlines between the factual and the fantastic disintegrate.

Like the bowerbird, Fuller is compelled to mine the archaeology of the everyday to create something new. This is reflected in the artist’s eclectic mix of materials, including newspaper, fox fur, sardine tins, gum wrappers, bus tickets, cutlery, crockery and other domestic items scoured from op shops and local tips. Bowerbird brings together Fuller’s early collages and assemblages, along with her more recent paintings and ceramics.
