Jennings has been commissioned to design an activity space where people can explore pattern making, drawing and creative play whilst visiting our current exhibitions, 'Spowers & Syme' and 'A Matter of Looking: 20th century works from the QUT Art Collection'.

Spowers & Syme is a National Galley of Australia touring exhibition and a project of the Know My Name initiative that seeks to redress the underrepresentation of women artists. This exhibition champions the exquisite prints and drawings of two of Australia’s most innovative female artists of the early 20th Century. Ethel Spowers and Eveline Syme were both deeply influenced by European Modernism and spent time abroad studying at the Grosvenor School, immersing themselves in the innovative teachings and techniques of the time which pushed the boundaries of woodcut and linocut printmaking methods. Despite working almost 100 years ago, the aesthetic sensibility of these two artists has an utterly contemporary feel and will have significant currency today to a generation of artists, designers and illustrators.

This event is part of BRISBANE ART DESIGN 2023.
